Implementation Plan

  1. Converting my two-bedroom, one-bathroom basement into a safe, colorful, and child-friendly learning space (April – June 2026): 
  • Inspect the basement for any structural issues or repairs needed (April 1,2026)
  • Identify suitable locations for each zone based on activity types and safety considerations (April 5,2026)
  • Choose and test small samples of the selected colors on the walls to see how they look in different lighting conditions (April 10, 2026)
  • Paint the walls and any other surfaces using the chosen color palette, ensuring smooth and even coverage. (April 11,2026)
  • Install or update fixtures to be childproof, such as outlet covers, corner protectors, and secure shelving (April 21,2026)
  • Lay down soft, cushioned flooring suitable for children to ensure safety and comfort (April 25, 2026)
  • Arrange and organize furniture, toys, books, and supplies within each designated zone for easy access (April 27, 2026)
  • Create a cozy reading and creative corner with seating, shelves, and storage for art supplies (April 28, 2026)
  • Add decorative elements like colorful posters, wall decals, or artwork to make the space inviting and stimulating (April 29, 2026)
  • Ensure all materials and furnishings meet safety standards. (April 30, 2026)
  1.  Obtaining licensing and permit (June – August. 2026). 
  • Fill and submit licensing application to the BC Child Care Licensing Office. (June 2, 2026)
  • Complete health and safety inspections as required by Northern Health. (June 30, 2026)
  • Obtain all necessary permits, insurance, and documentation. (July 28, 2026)
  • Finalize childcare policies and parent handbooks. (July 30, 2026)
  1. Hire two qualified staff (August): The center will start with two qualified staff members, one Early Childhood Educator (ECE) and one assistant—trained to deliver quality care and follow safety procedures. (August, 2026)
  • Advertise the job openings through WhatsApp statue, Facebook market, word of mouth. ( August 1, 2026)
  • Review applications and shortlist qualify suitable candidates (August 10, 2026)
  • Conduct interviews with shortlisted candidates (August 20, 2026)
  • Make job offers to the selected candidates (August 25, 2026)
  • Provide orientation and training on the daycare’s policies, child safety, and curriculum.  (August 30,2026)
  1. Marketing efforts will include promoting on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, printing and distributing flyers around schools, libraries, and Skeena Diversity, and hosting an open house before opening. (September,2026) 
  1. Open for operations (October 2026) 
  • officially launch daycare services 
  • Monitor initial enrollment, gather feedback, and adjust to ensure smooth operations. 
  1. Estimated startup costs range between $15,000–$20,000, covering renovation, furniture, licensing, staffing and training and marketing. The overall goal is to create a nurturing, inclusive, and educational environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive while giving parents peace of mind.
